Pakistan vs England Test: Abrar, Ali Receives Maiden Calls as PCB Announces Pakistan Squad Against England Squad

Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, December 1st, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium:

A 17-year-long wait was over for Pakistani fans before the recently concluded T20I World Cup when England’s team came to Pakistan to play the 7 T20I match series held successfully both on & off the field. Due to the T20I World Cup, the tour was mutually divided into two parts, T20I matches before the World Cup and then the Test series in December.

Remember that this didn’t occur as smoothly as it’s been said. A lot of things happened before the series finally took place. It all started last year when New Zealand landed in Islamabad to play scheduled series in Pakistan after many years, of course. Then just a few hours before the start of the first game, one of the most unusual incidents in cricket history occurred as the New Zealand team refused to play the game due to security reasons. According to them, they received a threatening call, and they wanted to go back. This was a very awkward and tense situation. Pakistan Cricket Board tried to explain to them that there was no threat, but in the end, they went back, and the tour got canceled.

Australia, New Zealand, and England share the same security agency, so England also followed New Zealand and announced to cancellation of the tour. This created a lot of tension as. Usually, the relations between both cricketing nations are excellent. After the England Cricket Board chairman’s resignation and backlash from their fans, former players, and managers, they announced to come back next year and play 2 T20I more as compensation.
