Match: IND vs BAN | 2nd Test Match 2022
Venue: Sher e Bangla National Stadium Mirpur, Dhaka.
Dates: 22nd – 26th December 2022.
The second test match of the two match test series between India and Bangladesh will start tomorrow.
India would enter the contest as the likely winners after a commanding performance in the first test match. On the other hand, Bangladesh had a few positives as they batted well in the last innings of the first test. Ideally, they would love to build on that and put on a more impressive performance. If they manage to bat well, their spinners have the ability to put India under pressure.
As the business end of the ICC World Test Championship is approaching, everyone is looking at the likely scenarios. India and Australia are leading the ICC World Test Championship table. A victory in the second test match would consolidate India’s position at the second spot on the table. Australia, India, and South Africa are the contenders for the final berths.
India have a great chance to qualify. After this series, they have four home tests scheduled against Australia. Winning any 3 of the 5 remaining matches will take them to the final.
Bangladesh has generally produced spin-friendly pitches in the recent past due to the country’s lack of fast bowling depth. Moreover, the pitch at Dhaka has also generally favoured the spinners. A similar track is expected for the second test match. Thus, the ball will spin here from the first day.
Dry Weather conditions are expected, which will further assist the deterioration of the pitch. Thus, spinners will dominate the match for most part. Batting will be easiest on the first day.
Rohit Sharma has not recovered from the thumb injury he sustained in the 3rd ODI match. Therefore, he will not be available for the second test match. KL Rahul will captain the team in his absence.
India are likely to stick to the same XI, as there is no Rohit Sharma returning to the team.

Bangladesh’s fast bowler Ebadot Hussain is injured and will not be available for selection. Taskin Ahmed will replace him in the playing XI.
