The Spanish Manager; Luis Enrique called it quits after the Spanish team was knocked out of the World Cup. The decision was taken after the Spanish team was defeated by the Moroccan team. The match held by them was a draw, so penalties were held.
It was clear that the Moroccan team was much more prepared for the penalties than the Spanish team and that was the deciding factor that led the team to victory. Enrique joined the Spanish team as a manager in 2018. He was somewhat successful as he led the Spanish team to the euro cup finals.
However, that didn’t turn out to be successful in the end because they lost to Italy in the finals. However, after the expert of the game has decided to quit, the main question lies as to who will take up his role and be the new manager of Spain. Most experts say that Luis de la Fuente has a very high chances to become the new manager of Spain.
Luis de la Fuente is currently the coach for the under-21 Spanish national football team. However, the news still hasn’t been confirmed because the approval to appoint him still has to be looked over by the board and then signed.
The manager was hopeful that the Spanish national football team would atleast make it to the semi-finals and if lucky to the finals too, but that wasn’t the fate of the team. In the initial matches of the World Cup, Spain gave some excellent performances, but that didn’t last till the other matches played by them.
For instance, the first match played by them was against Costa Rica. They won the match by scoring a whopping seven goals and conceived no goal at all.
However, in the later matches, the crowd wasn’t impressed by them, and most of the spectators complained that Spain plays a very boring game. It is because, in the later matches, they kept their game focused on possession. Due to that reason, they couldn’t win the match against Germany, and it was a draw.
In addition to the above, they couldn’t win the match against Morocco. That game resulted in no score from each team, so they had to hold penalties. Morocco defeated them in penalties and moved forward in the world cup competition.
Spain has a great past and also some great managers too, under which they won some really important championships. Under the management of Luis Aragones and Vicente del Bosque, the Spanish team was considered the best in the world.
However, that era lasted only a short period from 2008 to 2012. From 2008 to 2012, Spain won multiple titles including two consecutive European championships. However, after 2012 they didn’t win any single competition. In addition to this, they also struggled to reach the top sixteen in the last two world cups.
Luis Enrique remained the manager of Barcelona too but it was from 2014 to 2017. He remained a successful manager as he helped Barcelona in winning the champions league. In addition, he also helped them in winning two Liga titles along with three Copa del ray titles, the Spanish super cup, the club world cup, and the super cup.
Enrique joined the Spanish team as a manager in 2018 after a disturbing world cup campaign and disorganization among the athletes. During his tenure with the Spanish national team, he left for a short time in 2019 due to his daughter conceiving bone cancer, but joined shorty in 2020 and continued to provide services to the national team.
