QATAR WORLD CUP 2022 – Mexico vs Saudi Arabia 2-1, Mexico defeat Saudi Arabia but fail to make to the Last Round of 16 World Cup.
The Mexican Football team has been performing at their level best in the tournament, and it’s safe to say that they have surely won the hearts of their fans. Their gameplay was to the point in almost all games, and it clearly showed that they had come well-prepared for the game. However, it was not their fate to qualify. They outperformed the Saudi team and scored two goals in the game, and conceived one, but it winning the game just wasn’t enough for them to qualify. The rules of the game also involve the number of goals scored and the number of yellow or red cards received during the game. Football experts say that when Mexico scored two goals against Saudi Arabia with no conception, they were level with Poland in Group C, but this was ruined when Saudi Arabia scored one goal against the Mexicans, leading to their disqualification.
In the initial stages of the match, the Mexican team controlled the game and had the ball for a greater period, as compared to the Saudi Arabia team. Moreover, as soon as the game started they moved to attack mode to score as many goals as possible. The Mexican team was mentally prepared, and they didn’t come to just win the game, they came to score as many goals as possible to secure their place in the qualifying rounds. That is the reason why they played a performance leading to multiple goals. The Mexican team seemed to have favorite spots to score from on the field. There were some great crosses thrown toward the players, and one of them even landed straight in the goal. Their gameplay was stunning and left the Saudi Arabian defenders helpless. They were no match for their striking and attacking.
In the ending moments of the game, the Saudi Arabian team had a great chance to score and equalize the game, but they couldn’t. A free kick chance for the Saudi Arabian team was a great chance too, as it was just 25 yards from the opponent’s goal. However, the Mexican defenders made it almost impossible to land the ball even in the square boundary surrounding the goalpost. Furthermore, the Mexican team came up with a great strategy. They focused on keeping the ball in the half of the opponents, and usually, 5 to 6 players were seen attacking with the ball at once.
The competition was tough in the first half as no team was able to score a goal against each other. As result, this resulted in the frustration of the Mexican side, and attacked, even more, stronger this time. That is the reason why they scored in the 47th minute of the game, just two minutes after the kickoff of the second half. Cesar Montes Gave a brilliant pass to Henry Martin by flicking the ball above the other players. Henry then shot the ball with full power, and it landed in the goal. However, Mexico needed more than this and that’s why rather than celebrating and wasting time, they moved back into position to go for another goal. Just five minutes after scoring the first goal, they scored another one. This time it was Luis Chavez scoring a perfect free kick and making the score 2,0. However, this also wasn’t enough. They needed more goals to keep themselves in the tournament. Instead of scoring a goal, they conceived one, and so it drastically reduced their chances. Apart from this, they showed great determination throughout the tournament, but they were unlucky in reaching the quarterfinals.
