After all the changes in the PCB, the next expected change is the return of the former Coach Mickey A. It has been learned that the new Pakistan Cricket Board management is very keen to have Mickey A. back as the head coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team.
Mickey A. has earlier held different coaching roles with multiple cricket teams. He was the Head Coach of Pakistan Cricket Team between 2016 and 2019. Mickey A. is currently working with the Derbyshire Cricket Club.

New PCB Management wants to have Mickey A. as the Head Coach of Pakistan Cricket Team:
Najam Sethi, the new chairman of the PCB’s management committee is very keen to have Mickey A. as the Head Coach. Najam Sethi was part of the Pakistan Cricket Board when Arthur last worked with the National side.
Najam Sethi’s willingness to have the former coach back is a result of a number of crucial factors. Arthur had an excellent record with Pakistan and the team grew immensely under his coaching.
Arthur’s last tenure with Pakistan Cricket Team was a successful one:
Mickey A. was appointed as the Head Coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team in 2016. Under his coaching, Pakistan Cricket progressed smoothly as different players matured and stepped into their roles. Babar Azam was a junior player when Mickey took over.
It is known commonly that Mickey A. worked closely with players like Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, and Hasan Ali. All these players are modern-day champions and Mickey Arthur has contributed quite a lot.
Pakistan Cricket team was at a very low point in 2016, as they had crashed out of the ICC World T20’s group stages. A number of senior players like Shahid Afridi, Misbah ul Haq, and Younis Khan had retired that year.
Sarfaraz Ahmed was a young captain and Arthur had a young side to manage and coach. However, Arthur brought the team together and guided them well, under the inspirational leadership of Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Pakistan Won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 under Mickey:
Pakistan Cricket Team won the ICC Champions Trophy for the first time in its history under the coaching of Mickey A. and Captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Pakistan defeated the arch-rivals India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. The team looked united at that time and Arthur had developed Pakistan into the dark horses for the ICC tournaments.
In 2018, Pakistan also won the Triangular Series involving Australia and Zimbabwe and became the number one ranked T20I side in the world. Under Mickey Arthur’s coaching Pakistan Cricket team won 30 T20Is out of 37 played under the coaching of Mickey A. During this period, Pakistan Cricket Team won 11 consecutive T20I series, which is a record till date.
Mickey A.’s first tenure as the Head Coach of Pakistan Cricket Team was a successful one. He won matches and tournaments while also contributing a lot to the growth and development of the young Pakistan Team.
