Morocco vs France Semi-Finals World Cup 2022 Qatar: The second semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar promised to be a competitive game of football as the two teams had an amazing run till the semi-finals. France looked settled while Morocco were the underdogs.
The defending champions did not enter the world cup as the favorites as various injuries affected their best combination. At the same time, the team did not look as settled and as experienced as it was in the previous edition of the FIFA World Cup.
However, they played well in the initial matches and showed the global community that they had entered the FIFA World cup well prepared.
On the other hand, the Moroccans had stunned one and all. They had started their world cup with a draw against Last FIFA Champion Team; Croatia. They won the remaining two group matches against a strong Belgian side and a balanced Canadian team.
They followed the wins in the group with an emphatic round of 16 win against Spain. In the quarterfinals, they beat Portugal to shatter the World Cup Dream for Cristiano Ronaldo. And, here they were, playing the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
This was the first instance of an African team playing the semi-final of a FIFA World Cup. Thus, the build-up for the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup was amazing as Morocco took on France.
Throughout the tournament, one of the biggest strengths of the Moroccan side was that they had maintained clean sheets in most of their matches and conceded very few goals. Thus, their solid defence was a huge contributor to their semi-final qualification.
However, things happened differently for them in the seminal against France. Even though France were the clear favourites to win the semi final and qualify for the World Cup Final, many fans have Morocco a chance because of their strong defence. However, France managed to penetrate through the defensive wall of Morocco and registered the first goal of the semi-final.
Theo Hernandez scored in the fifth minute to give France the early advantage. After that, the Moroccan team started to play more aggressively. Yet, they were not able to find an equalizer as the first half finished with the scoreline of 1-0. Morocco continued their efforts in the second half but failed to score.
On the other hand, France scored a second goal in the 79th minute of play to confirm their ticket to the final. The game finished with a scoreline of 2-0.
France will take on Argentina in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup while Morocco will play a third-place match against Croatia.
Morocco entertained everyone throughout the world cup and won all hearts.
