ODI Series: Rohit Sharma Injury of Thumb, Deepak Chahar Also Suffers from Stiff Hamstring

Rohit Sharma and Deepak ruled out of ODI series due to injuries against Bangladesh: The heated competition between the Asian sides of India and Bangladesh series saw several things that did not favor the side of India.  Rohit Sharma, who is the key batsman and the skipper of the Indian side, had to put an end to his playing time against the Bangladesh side after a very gruesome incident after which he had to be hospitalized and could not continue to play against the Bangladesh side.

The captain Rohit Sharma stood stationary as slip hoping to get on the end of an edge from the standing batsman. When the opportunity came, it left him injured and on the way to the nearest hospital in Dhaka. It all happened during the fourth delivery by Mohammad Siraj who was bowling to get a wicket of the opener Anamul Haque.

The fourth delivery by Muhammad Siraj brought out a reaction from the batsman who took a swing but it grazed the ball just enough to direct it behind him toward the slip Rohit Sharma. It looked as if it would be a walk in the park for the skipper, but the ball came faster than he expected it to and he couldn’t position his hand according. Therefore the ball hit his hand in the wrong place which ended up being the last of any action he got.

The skipper held his hand in agony aware of his injury. He was then assisted by the medical team of BCCI after he walked off the pitch. Aware of the seriousness of the injury, the captain was sent off to the Dhaka hospital to get scans of his hand and proper treatment. His injury was also confirmed by BCCI following their tweet about the injury on Twitter.

The vice-captain and the wicketkeeper KL Rahul took his place for the remainder of the match. When the 39th over arrived, the commentators announced that Rohit Sharma had returned from the hospital but he did not step on the ground. Perhaps he was not fit to play and this can also tell us about how serious the injury was.

Rohit Sharma did not appear as an opener for the team as well. He was asked to stay out and Virat Kholi, who moved up a spot, opened the score for the Indian side partnered by Shikar Dhawan.

This is very unfortunate for Rohit Sharma who just recently returned for this ODI series after having missed out on the opportunity to play in the White-ball tour against New Zealand following the T20 world cup held in Australia.

The captain was last seen in an ODI match against England held in July and had to sit out of the ODI games against West Indies, Zimbabwe, and South Africa with their main focus on the upcoming T20 World cup.

However, the injury that Rohit Sharma and the defeat in their first ODI in Dhaka against Bangladesh were not the only set back that were faced by the Indian cricket team. The Seam bowler Chakar also was facing some issues while playing and could not see him completing the entire match. The bowler had a bad year with injuries throughout.

He was injured in February after tearing his quadriceps muscle in the Indians T20 match against West Indies. This was followed by some lingering back issues while recovering from his torn quadriceps. This led to him missing out on the IPL and did not play for the Indian side until they faced Zimbabwe in August.

Though he seemed good for a while, his back issue led him to miss out on the two ODI against the side of South Africa. He could only bowl three overs after which he also had to sit out.
