PAK vs ENG 3rd Test Match – England Beats Pakistan by 8 Wickets: The third test match between England and Pakistan finished in an expected and anticipated manner as England baz-balled their way to the target. The series started with a 14-run opening over and it ended with a crushing boundary through point region.
These were the two endpoints for this entertaining and thrilling series, in which England were the better of the two sides and deservingly won the game.
England took only 38 minutes to chase the remaining 55 runs in the fourth innings of the third test match. In another world, you may have expected the batters to play carefully and canter their way to the target.
But this is the new England team that believes in a fearless brand of cricket. And, their fearless approach has worked well for them so far.
England resumed their innings on Day 4 at the score of 112/2, needing only 55 runs for victory. Ben Stokes and Ben Duckett were at the crease at that time. The two batters wasted no time in getting things flowing as England chased the target with 8 wickets to spare.
Ben Duckett played a commanding innings of 82 runs from 78 balls while Ben Stokes remained not out on 35 runs.
With that win, England won the series 3-0 as they had earlier won the 1st and 2nd Test Matches of the series in Rawalpindi and Multan respectively.
Harry Brooks was judged as the player of the match for his innings of 111 runs in the first innings. England were in trouble at 146/5 in their first innings but the hundred by Brooks rescued them as they went on to post 354 runs in the first innings.
Harry Brooks was also the player of the series for his 468 runs in the series with 3 centuries. He surpassed David Gower’s record of highest runs in a test series by an English Batter in Pakistan. Moreover, he also equalled the record by Mohammad Yousuf for three centuries in three overseas test matches.
Pakistan’s next assignment begins in less than a week as they are scheduled to host New Zealand for two test matches and three ODIs. The first test match between New Zealand and Pakistan will start on 26th December, 2022 while the second test is scheduled between 3rd and 7th January.
Pakistan have lost 4 consecutive test matches at home this year. Let’s see if they manage to win one towards the end of the year.
England’s next series is scheduled in South Africa, where the English team will play 3 One Day Matches. The matches will be played between 27th January and 1st February.
After the white ball tour of South Africa, the English team will head to New Zealand, where they will play two test matches. These matches are part of the ICC World Test Championship. However, both the teams are already out of the race for the final.
Test cricket is a form of first-class cricket played at international level between teams representing full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
A match consists of four innings (two per team) and is scheduled to last for up to five days. In the past, some Test matches had no time limit and were called Timeless Tests. The term “test match” was originally coined in 1861–62 but in a different context.
Test cricket did not become an officially recognised format until the 1890s, but many international matches since 1877 have been retrospectively awarded Test status.
The first such match took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in March 1877 between teams which were then known as a Combined Australian XI and James Lillywhite’s XI, the latter a team of visiting English professionals.
Matches between Australia and England were first called “test matches” in 1892. The first definitive list of retrospective Tests was written by South Australian journalist Clarence P. Moody two years later and, by the end of the century, had gained acceptance.
There are now twelve full ICC member countries playing Test cricket. Day/night Tests were permitted by the ICC in 2012 and the first day/night match was between Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval in November 2015.
