ICC Women T20 World Cup 2023 SWOT Analysis

SWOT Analysis – The ICC Women T20 World Cup 2023 will commence on February 10 and run until February 26, 2023. Hosted by South Africa, there will be a total of 23 matches, and the finials being held at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, South Africa.

This world cup will have two groups which will have ten teams where group A has Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sir Lanka and group B has England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, and West Indies.

Starting on the 12th of February they will have a match with Pakistan in Cape Town for the beginning of the world cup campaign with those getting into semi-finials whose groups teams are at the top.

Moving on, let’s shed some light on the team now. The team captain is Harmanpreet Kaur and the vice-captain it’s Smriti Mandhana. In all this, the momentous news for this world cup is that Shikha Pandey who is the fastest bowling all-rounder was sidelined for a year and was not back.

Moreover, in the game for fitness Pooja Vastrakar had been included with Anjali Sarvani. On the reserve side Sabbhineni Meghana, Sneh Rana, and Meghna Singh were held. Lastly, in the T20 World cup, India lost to Australia but now when they make their way to South Africa, the captain and the team have to overcome what happened in the past and take this game to the next level.

Furthermore, SWOT analysis will be looked into from both the strengths and weaknesses point of view. Firstly, the strength, we shall start by looking at the ample amount of experience that Richa Ghosh and Shafali bring to the team with their history of playing the U19 and T20I.

Secondly, the team battling has never been better with Smriti and Shafali being at the top. Here it is expected to be big if Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh come in later for the battling order if all goes according to plan.

Australian series was not a total failure as it was seen that Devika Vaidya and Harleen Deol had turned out to be gold for the Indian set-up. From extra bowling options to battling order and their pick wickets, they were the best.

Lastly, a player like Shikha Pandey has been an excellent inclusion to the team for being a guide for team members like Anjali Sarvani and Renuka Singh, nevertheless, she brings an endless footing to the team.

On the other hand, some major weakness includes the team showing that they are too dependent on Renuka Singh Thakur. On the contrary, her brilliant opening spell did set the game up, but at the same time, without the other bowlers to back her up; it would further complicate India’s problems.

Furthermore, they have a problem with the blowing, looking at both sides and glancing at the past, if India is either blowing or defending at the start, they have to up their game and take it to the peak so that they do not lose runes. Other areas like poor fielding have to be dealt with so that they can win the game or perform better in these limited-overs games.

Lastly, for the team to be at its best they need the best blowing coach, and this team after Ramesh Powar did not have a proper one and in such times, they are the most important thing the team could need.

There are both positive and negative sides to every game but for India to bring this championship home they have to first avoid the case os so close, yet so far. It should be brought to light that India has never been victorious with ICC but this T20 world cup could be the key for this team to pull this off and turn it into a win.
