Prithvi Shaw, the Indian international star scored 379 runs in the Ranji Trophy game against Assam. With 379 runs, he broke Sanjay Manjrekar’s record of 377 runs in Ranji Trophy. Shaw has scored the second highest score in the history of Ranji Trophy.

Prithvi Shaw was born on November 9, 1999, in Thane, Maharashtra, to Bihari parents. Shaw’s parents migrated from Gaya, Bihar to Thane in search of work.Shaw was a key figure in the documentary film Beyond All Boundaries, and he has been chosen twice to travel to England to improve his cricketing education.
Shaw has signed a deal for Rs 36 lakh with Sanspareils Greenlands (SG), which has previously been promoted by cricket legends such as Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid.
Shaw was purchased for 1.2 crores by the Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018. Shaw became the youngest player to begin batting in Indian Premier League history on April 23, 2018, at the age of 18 and 165 days, while playing for Delhi Daredevils against Kings XI Punjab. He also made a strong IPL debut, hitting 22 runs in 10 balls.
On April 27, 2018, Prithvi Shaw scored his first IPL fifty against the Kolkata Knight Riders, making him the equal youngest player to do so, along with Sanju Samson. His 62-run effort helped Delhi Daredevils seal a comfortable 55-run victory against KKR.
Shaw became the second player in IPL history, after Ajinkya Rahane, to knock six boundaries in an over on April 29, 2021, when he scored six boundaries off Shivam Mavi in the opening over of the Delhi innings. The Delhi Capitals have retained him ahead of the Tata IPL Auction 2022.
He was picked to India’s Test team for the series against the West Indies in September 2018. On October 4, 2018, Shaw made his Test debut against the West Indies. In that match, he struck his first Test century and became India’s youngest batter to achieve a Test century on debut (18 years and 319 days). Shaw was voted Series Player of the Year.
Shaw was picked to India’s One Day International (ODI) team for their series against New Zealand in January 2020. On February 5, 2020, he made his ODI debut for India against New Zealand. He was also chosen for the New Zealand Test Series, when he scored one half-century in four innings.
He was picked to India’s One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) teams for their series against Sri Lanka in June 2021. In the opening ODI of the three-match series, he scored 43 runs off 24 balls. On July 25, 2021, he made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka.
In recent months, a decline has been seen in Shaw’s form. However, he must make a comeback in the upcoming IPL edition if he wants to push his case as the main opener in India. The Ranji Trophy record may bring him back to the India’s test squad. It is safe to say that Shaw has a bright future ahead of him.
