As it happened – New Zealand’s Tour of India:
The first ODI match between India and New Zealand was all about two brilliant innings from two opposite sides. For India it was Shubman Gill who looked in supreme touch today. Everything that he touched today turned to gold.
The two openers started cautiously and added 60 runs in the first 12 overs. Rohit Sharma got out for 34 runs. Indian middle order showed the signs of a collapse as Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan got out in a quick succession.
However, Shubman Gill scored his first ever double century and took India to 349/8. Gill made 208 runs alone.
New Zealand’s chase started off in a disappointing fashion as they lost early wickets and were reduced to 131/6 in 29th over of play. However, a 162-run partnership between Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner brought New Zealand back into the game. Bracewell made 140 runs while Santner scored 57 important runs.

The next match of the series is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 21st January, 2023.
