SUNRISERS EASTERN CAPE SA20 Team Preview – New T20 League in South Africa:

The new South African T20 League has started, with six teams in the competition. These teams include Joburg Super Kings, Pretoria Capitals, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, MI Cape Town, Durban Super Giants, and Paarl Royals.

The South Africa 20 (SA20) tournament is scheduled to run between 10th January 2023 and February 11th 2023. All six teams will compete in a round-robin format.

SUNRISERS EASTERN CAPE Squad 2023:

SUNRISERS E. CAPE have tried to retain their core squad from the IPL wing of Sunrisers Hyderabad. A number of their players in the team also play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

They have nominated Aiden Markram as the captain of the side. Markram is also in contention to be nominated as the Captain of the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

So far, no decision has been made about handing over the captaincy of SRH to any particular players. However, Markram’s performance in the SA20 can be a test case for the IPL 2023.

SUNRISERS E. CAPE Batters:

Marques Ackerman, Aiden Markram (captain), Sarel Erwee, Jordan Hermann (wildcard), Tristan Stubbs.

The batting unit will revolve around Aiden Markram who will have to take the responsibility in this otherwise very young and inexperienced unit.

Markram is expected to receive good support from Sarel Erwee. Moreover, the pronouncing young batter Tristian Stubbs is also a part of the side. His exploits and performances can be decisive for the side.

Moreover, Marcon Jansen and JJ Smuts have the potential to make valuable contributions with the bat.

Adam Rossington (ENG), Jordan Cox (ENG).

SUNRISERS E. CAPE All-rounders:

Tom Abell (ENG), James Fuller (ENG), Ayabulela Gqamane, Marco Jansen, Roelof van der Merwe (NED), JJ Smuts.

Marco Jansen is another player who plays for Sunrisers in the IPL and has been retained by the franchise in the SA20.

Ottneil Baartman, Sisanda Magala, Junaid Dawood, Mason Crane (ENG), Brydon Carse (ENG).

SUNRISERS E. CAPE Coaching Staff:

Adrian Birrell (head coach), Baakier Abrahams, Dale Steyn.

SUNRISERS E. CAPE – Team Review:

Overall, the SUNRISERS E. CAPE team looks a little weaker than the rest of the teams. They have a number of talented players. However, their bowling unit looks very weak and will require players to step up on big occasion.

It will not be a surprise if Sunrisers finish at the bottom of the table in SA20.The IPL Effect in the SA20

All six teams in the SA 20 are owned by IPL franchises. That’s the reason why these South Africa based franchises have the same parent names as the IPL franchises.

SUNRISERS E. CAPE is owned by the same group of people as the new IPL team Lucknow Super Giants. PRETORIA CAPITALS franchise is owned by the Delhi Capitals side.

What is SA20:

SA 20 is a Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament to be played in South Africa in early 2023. The first edition is scheduled to feature six teams based in South African cities. In August 2022, the league was formally named the SA 20
