Sunil Gavaskar On Arshdeep Singh – IND vs NZ T20I: Indian Cricket Team is all set to clash against New Zealand for the 3rd T20I match on 1st February (Wednesday). All eyes would be on Arshdeep Singh as the pacer made a pretty decent comeback in the 2nd T20I match after getting thrashed in the opening match.
The Men in Blue would be keen to register a comprehensive win over Blackcaps after a below-par performance in the first 2 T20Is. New Zealand would sense a golden opportunity to spoil the party of India as the hosts aren’t looking that threatening with the bat in hand.

Sunil Gavaskar made some interesting comments on Arshdeep Singh during the 2nd ODI match. “He has got a very good bouncer and bowls a great yorker as well. He certainly is a prospect, big prospect… even for red-ball cricket because if he can get the white-ball to swing so much, imagine what he will do with the red ball. And of course, he also brings a left-handed dimension to any attack.”said Sunil Gavaskar.
“He’s got pace, can get the ball to move so. Just like Jasprit Bumrah started off with the white-ball and went on to become such an effective, top-class Test match bowler, Arshdeep Singh is someone to keep an eye on.” he added.
Critical Match for India
This decider will give the selection panel a fair idea that how the team fares in the absence of senior players. It is assumed that Hardik would continue to lead the side.
It won’t be wrong to say that New Zealand has an upper hand as they have got quite a few match-winners present in the side.
The Men in Blue would be hoping that Shubman Gill hits form as the batter has looked in two minds whether to attack or defend. Perhaps, the management should use Prithvi Shaw at No.3 number and bolster their batting line up as the skipper Hardik Pandya can play the role of 5th bowler.

What is T20I?
A Twenty20 International (T20I) is a form of cricket, played between two of the international members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which each team faces a maximum of twenty overs. The matches have top-class status and are the highest T20 standard.
The game is played under the rules of Twenty20 cricket. Starting from the format’s inception in 2005, T20I status only applied to Full Members and some Associate Member teams. However, in April 2018, the ICC announced that it would grant T20I status to all its 105 members from 1 January 2019.
The shortened format was initially introduced to bolster crowds for the domestic game, and was not intended to be played internationally, but the first Twenty20 International took place on 17 February 2005 when Australia defeated New Zealand, and the first tournament was played two years later, with the introduction of the ICC T20 World Cup.
In 2016, for the first time in a calendar year, more Twenty20 International matches (100) were played than ODI matches (99). As of November 2021, 90 nations feature in ICC T20I team rankings.
