The scenes in Visakhapatnam were heavily in the favor of the Australians as they sank India in their second ODI win of the series. It was smooth sailing for the Australian cricket team as they dominated India in style with their 10-over win over the Indian side at their home ground.
This win was heavily aided by the individual performances of some of the players of the Australian team who displayed game-changing efforts. Some of these players included the openers Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh both making half-centuries that did wonders for the Australian side. They not only got the win at India’s home ground but also leveled the series not giving an easy win for the hosts.
The Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc deserves credit for his performance and did exceptionally in terms of getting the wickets and regulating the runs of the Indian cricket team. He did not give a chance to India to break through and it was mainly due to the pacer’s efforts that the Australian side was able to put on such a performance. His and the remainder of the team’s efforts led to India just accumulating only 117 runs in 26 overs after which they had no momentum nor any wickets left to make an effort for the win.
Australia was able to maintain their composure and it was an easy chase for the batting side. The openers were very composed and they took their time to get the chase done. The Australian batting side was quick to get the job done. Both the batsman displayed great skill and confidence they hit multiple boundaries and made swift runs to end the chase and get the win. It was not a good day for the Indian cricket team and the Indian cricket board as they rarely face a defeat in such a manner.
India is a very highly-ranked team and even if they lose to another powerful side; they make maximum efforts to give the opposing side a tough time. On this occasion, this was not the case as it was very easy for the Australian side to get the victory. The worst part about losing the match is that they lost it in such a fashion at their home ground which is supposed to give the Indian side an advantage in terms of the playing field, the weather, the environment, and the fans.
Australia’s win over India also led to multiple records being and unfortunately for India, they were on the wrong side of the history books this time. Australia was in favor this time and made their marks in the history books with a decisive win over the Indian side.
The first record made today was that the score that India accumulated today against Australia was the third lowest every recorded in India against Australia with the first lowest being sixty-three runs in an ODI In 1963 in Sydney and a hundred runs by India against Australia in 2000 also in Sydney. Today they made the record for the third-lowest score just 117 in 26 overs and this is not a good sight for India and their cricket board.
The second record that was broken by India was that this was the fourth-lowest score that they managed to accumulate at their home ground with the third lowest being 78 vs Sri Lanka in 1986, the second lowest was 100 VS West Indies and the third lowest was 112 vs Sri Lanka in 2017.
Additionally, Mitchell Starc moved up to third place in terms of most five-fours in ODIs. This was Starc’s 9th one. Moreover, this defeat of India was the worst when we speak about balls remaining as Australia bagged the win with 234 balls remaining.
Lastly, Australia’s win over India marked their third-fastest run chase in an ODI match.
