Pakistans star player and fan favorite Babar Azam will be representing his team again in the upcoming series against New Zealand. The head of the Pakistan Cricket Board has made a group responsible for choosing the players in the squad that will play against New Zealand in the coming weeks.
The committee will decide on the team for the ODI as well as the T twenty. In addition, the management has consulted with Babar Azam as to what team players he would like to choose and the ones whom he would like to drop from the team.
Let us talk a little about the performance of Babar Azam. Babar Azam has played exceptionally well in the last couple of years. The year before this one has been his career-best because, in that specific year, he had acquired the number one spot in the list of the best batsmen in the world. After him came Muhammad Rizwan, who had also played exceptionally well and continues to do so. These two players are considered assets of the Pakistani Cricket Team because they have the skill as well as the boldness to play classy shots and perform very well under pressure.
Recently just a day or two ago, the Pakistani Cricket team had a 3-match series with Afghanistan. In the Pakistani Cricket team, Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan, and some senior and star players were not playing. It is because the Pakistan cricket board had decided to go with the youngsters this time. After all, they wanted to give them the experience of what international cricket is like.
However, it started badly, because the Pakistani Cricket team did not score even 150 runs in the first innings. The Pakistani Cricket team also included young players that had scored runs in the recently conducted Pakistan Super League. Azam khan, who managed to score runs in almost every match of the PSL, failed as he could not even score a half-century against Afghanistan.
In addition to the above facts, a notable player Pakistani Cricket team also could not perform well. Although Muhammad Haris was considered a hard hitter and a bold batsman, he managed to score just 22 runs in all three matches. It was disappointing for the fans. As much as it was disappointing for the fans, it was also disappointing for Muhammad Haris Himself. So much so that he apologized to the fans after facing heavy criticism from Ramiz Raja, who was the Pakistani Cricket team’s ex-chief and also a retired batsman.
However, news from the inside has circulated that for the upcoming series with the New Zealand team, the Pakistani Cricket team will still go with their youngsters except for a few players. Some players will have to be dropped to introduce senior players to the team especially Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan. Another interesting fact about these two players is that they had gone under extreme criticism in the past because, since the last international matches, they did not manage to score runs.
However, they were still considered the backbone of the team because, with them, the team stood firm. It was noted in the recent games against Afghanistan that the Pakistani Cricket team completely collapsed and could not get a hold of a fruitful partnership, but the wickets kept on falling.
However, with the inclusion of the senior players, Pakistan aims to perform at its best and show a massive improvement, which is also necessary for the upcoming world cup tournament that will be held in India. Pakistan will have to improve its game in all three formats to give tough competition to teams such as England, Australia, and India. Pakistan will also have to face pitch conditions too.
