ECB announces venues for India tours in 2027 and 2029 | Ageas Bowl Set to Host Historic Men’s Ashes Test in 2027

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) recently announced the venues for England’s home international matches from 2025 to 2031. Southampton’s Ageas Bowl has secured a significant milestone as it prepares to host its first-ever Men’s Ashes Test in 2027. This announcement marks a momentous occasion for Hampshire Cricket and The Ageas Bowl, solidifying their position in the cricketing world. Additionally, the Ageas Bowl will also hold its inaugural Women’s Ashes Test in 2031, with the 2027 edition taking place at Headingley.

Ageas Bowl’s Cricketing Journey

Since hosting its first Test match against Sri Lanka in 2011, the Ageas Bowl has steadily grown in prominence as a cricketing venue. It showcased its capabilities by successfully organizing two Tests against India in 2014 and 2018. However, it was during the challenging Covid-affected summer of 2020 that the Ageas Bowl truly shone. The ground served as a bio-secure venue for Tests against West Indies and Pakistan, as well as hosting white-ball fixtures against Ireland and Australia, enabling the ECB to fulfill its broadcast commitments effectively.

Recognition and Commitment

Bransgrove acknowledged the unwavering dedication and commitment of the Ageas Bowl’s staff, past and present, over the past two decades. The allocation of the Ashes Test in 2027, alongside the Women’s Ashes Test in 2031 and the broader international and Test match program for the next seven years, signifies the organization’s full recognition of their remarkable efforts. It serves as a testament to their hard work and passion for cricket.

Upcoming Test Series

Looking ahead, England Men’s next two Test series against India will take place at various renowned venues. In 2025, matches will be held at Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Edgbaston, Headingley, and Emirates Old Trafford. Four years later, in 2029, the series will move to Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Edgbaston, Emirates Old Trafford, and The Ageas Bowl. These matches promise to be enthralling encounters, showcasing the talents of both teams and providing cricket enthusiasts with memorable moments.

England Women’s International Matches

Lord’s, often referred to as the “Home of Cricket,” will host England Women’s matches throughout the period from 2025 to 2031. Additionally, The Kia Oval, Edgbaston, Headingley, Emirates Old Trafford, Trent Bridge, and The Ageas Bowl will each host the team at least four times during this period. England Women’s internationals will also continue to be hosted at other venues around the country, offering fans from various regions the opportunity to witness high-quality cricket.

Building on the Success of Women’s Cricket

The ECB has shown its commitment to the growth of women’s cricket by announcing long-term allocations for women’s international matches alongside the men’s matches. The past few years have witnessed a significant surge in attendance for women’s matches, with the current Women’s Ashes series already breaking previous records. The ECB aims to capitalize on this success and further enhance the women’s game in the coming years.

Sustainable Growth and Fan Experiences

By revealing the seven-year arrangements for international matches, the ECB aims to provide venues with long-term certainty. This allows them to make sustainable investments in stadium improvements and enhance the overall fan experience. This strategic approach ensures that cricket enthusiasts can look forward to great clashes between top cricketing nations while enjoying state-of-the-art facilities.

Exciting Times Ahead | England’s Test Venues

As the Men’s Ashes series commences at Edgbaston, followed by the multi-format Women’s Ashes at Trent Bridge, cricket fans worldwide can already start anticipating the thrilling encounters that lie ahead. With the announcement of long-term allocations for international matches, the ECB has set the stage for exciting cricketing action over the next seven years. The Ageas Bowl’s inclusion in hosting prestigious Ashes Tests exemplifies its growing stature in the cricketing world, marking a new chapter in its rich history.
