The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI), the governing body of Indian cricket, has recently announced an opportunity for cricket enthusiasts to apply for the prestigious position of a member of the senior men’s selection committee. In a formal notice posted on the BCCI’s official website and shared across their various social media platforms, the board has invited interested candidates to submit their applications. The last date for applying for this coveted post is set as June 30, giving potential selectors ample time to prepare their applications and showcase their credentials.
In an interesting twist, the BCCI’s notification for the selector post did not provide any information about the chairman of the selection committee. This omission has sparked speculation that the current chairman, Shiv Sundar Das, may retain his position. Das, who has represented India in 23 Tests, brings valuable experience to the table. However, the other members of the committee, namely Salil Ankola (West), Subroto (Central), and S Sharath (South), have limited on-the-field experience.
If the BCCI fails to secure a prominent figure from the North Zone, former Indian wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra is being considered as an alternative candidate, according to the PTI. Ratra previously underwent an interview with the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) during Chetan Sharma’s reappointment. Another intriguing name that has surfaced in the discussion is Vivek Razdan, a renowned BCCI panel commentator. Razdan’s extensive experience in observing domestic cricket while working on the air makes him a viable option for the selection committee. When approached for a comment, Razdan expressed his interest, stating.
Among the applicants for the selector position, former Indian spinner Maninder Singh was interviewed for the role after submitting his application twice. However, despite making it through the initial round of interviews, Singh did not receive a call for further screening, leaving him disappointed. The competition for the selector post remains fierce, as the BCCI is looking for the best candidates to shape the future of Indian cricket.
In addition to the senior men’s selection committee, the BCCI has recently completed the selection process for two other crucial committees: the Women’s Selection Committee and the Junior Cricket Committee. The board released vacancies for these committees, attracting the attention of cricket enthusiasts eager to contribute to the growth and development of the sport.
The screening for the Women’s Selection Committee and the Junior Cricket Committee was conducted by a highly respected Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) led by Mr. Jatin Paranjpe, Ms. Sulakshana Naik, and Mr. Ashok Malhotra. These prominent personalities carefully reviewed the applications and conducted interviews to identify the most suitable candidates.
After a thorough evaluation, the advisory committee unanimously recommended the names of Mr. VS Thilak Naidu and Ms. Shayama Dey Shaw for the Women’s Selection Committee and the Junior Cricket Committee, respectively. Both Naidu and Shaw possess the skills, knowledge, and passion required to make significant contributions to the committees and help shape the future of Indian cricket.
The BCCI’s call for applications for the Indian cricket team selector designation presents a golden opportunity for cricket enthusiasts to actively participate in the selection process and contribute to the growth of the sport. With the last date for applications set as June 30, interested candidates have ample time to prepare their applications and showcase their expertise. The selections for the Women’s Selection Committee and the Junior Cricket Committee have also concluded, with Mr. VS Thilak Naidu and Ms. Shayama Dey Shaw emerging as the recommended candidates. As the BCCI continues to shape the future of Indian cricket, the appointment of the new selectors will play a crucial role in determining the success of the national team.
