Jamieson and Boult are back in New Zealand ODI Team

New Zealand’s selectors have shown their confidence in Trent Boult by including him in a 15-member squad for four ODIs in England. This signifies that he is likely to be picked for the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is scheduled for October. Another positive development for New Zealand’s preparations is the return of fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, who has recovered from a long-standing back injury. Both Boult and Jamieson’s presence will bolster their chances at the tournament.

Boult and Jamieson last participated in ODIs in September and April 2022, respectively. Jamieson has been inactive since February of this year and will make his return in the T20Is against UAE next week.

After being released from his New Zealand central contract last August, Boult has been participating in T20 leagues globally. He represented the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL earlier this year and recently played for MI New York in their successful MLC campaign, where he emerged as the tournament’s top wicket-taker.

In the absence of Kane Williamson, Tom Latham will be leading the ODI side. Williamson suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee during the first game of IPL 2023 and underwent surgery. He has now begun batting again and will join the team in England for further rehabilitation.

Mark Chapman and James Neesham will be absent from the ODIs as they are anticipating the arrival of their first children. Additionally, Ish Sodhi will depart after the T20Is in England and skip the ODIs to prioritize spending time with his family before a demanding season begins.

New Zealand’s ODI squad is now at near full strength, in contrast to their depleted team during the Pakistan tour in April-May. They have welcomed back key players such as Tim Southee, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Devon Conway, Finn Allen, and Lockie Ferguson.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead expressed his excitement about including Kyle in the squad. He also mentioned Kyle’s earlier selection for the T20 squads against the UAE and England. Stead acknowledged Kyle’s dedication to his rehabilitation after back surgery and is eager to see him back on the international stage.

“It’s also exciting to have Trent back with our ODI unit as he begins his journey towards the World Cup in India. We’ve always had a plan in place, discussing with Trent and other individuals about their specific preparations. Together, we’ve determined that this build-up is the right path for him as we approach the World Cup. We remain open and flexible to meet each player’s needs, and we haven’t ruled out anyone. Trent’s return is a great example of how he’s joining our squad as we work towards this significant event.”

The New Zealand cricket team will kick off their tour of England with T20 warm-up matches against Worcestershire and Gloucestershire on August 25th and 27th respectively. This will be followed by a series of T20 International matches on August 30th, September 1st, 3rd, and 5th. The One Day Internationals (ODIs) will

Tickner and Lister recalled for T20Is against UAE

New Zealand has made two changes to their T20I squad for the upcoming three matches against UAE. Fast bowlers Blair Tickner and Ben Lister have earned a recall to the team.

The original squad had to make some changes due to injuries. Allrounder Henry Shipley injured his back while playing for Sussex, and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was brought in as a replacement player for Welsh Fire in the Hundred tournament.

Southee, who will captain the team for the T20 matches in the UAE until August 20, will then join London Spirit in the Hundred for their final league game on August 25 and potentially for the finals if they qualify. Southee and Ferguson are among 11 New Zealand players participating in this season’s Hundred tournament. The players selected for the T20 series in England will join the New Zealand squad three days after the conclusion of the Hundred final.

The New Zealand T20I squad for the UAE includes Tim Southee as captain, along with Adi Ashok, Chad Bowes, Mark Chapman, Dane Cleaver, Dean Foxcroft, Ben Lister, Kyle Jamieson, Cole McConchie, Jimmy Neesham, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner,Tim Seifert.Ā

Trent Boult is making his comeback to One Day International (ODI) cricket after nearly a year. New Zealand has announced a formidable squad for the upcoming four-match series against England, scheduled from September 8 to 15. Boult took a break from the Black Caps’ central contract last year in order to participate in T20 leagues across the globe.

In addition to announcing the 50-over format squad, the New Zealand team also revealed their T20I squad, led by Tim Southee. After the conclusion of the T20I series, Ish Sodhi, Mark Chapman, and James Neesham will be heading home to fulfill family commitments.

“Mark Chapman and Jimmy Neesham will not be available for the series as they are expecting the arrival of their first children. Additionally, Ish Sodhi will be returning home after the T20I series against England to spend time with his family before a busy upcoming cricket schedule,” stated NZC.

Injured all-rounder Michael Bracewell was unavailable for selection due to an ongoing injury suffered in June and has yet to fully recover.

According to the statement, Michael Bracewell cannot currently be selected due to his ongoing recovery from surgery on his ruptured Achilles in June.

The T20 international cricket matches between England and New Zealand are scheduled to take place from August 30th to September 5th.

New Zealand has also revealed their squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates, scheduled for later this month.
