India vs Sri Lanka Match Prediction | ICC WC 2023

IND vs SL Match Prediction

Team India is leading the way. They are comfortably atop the points table with 12 points after winning six of their first six matches in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. India still has three league games left, therefore their prospects of making the semi-finals suddenly seem nearly likely. On November 2, the Men in Blue will play Sri Lanka in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The Lankan Lions are coming off a devastating loss to Afghanistan and haven’t had the best of campaigns. India will undoubtedly fancy their chances against them, especially considering that they recently defeated Sri Lanka.

TEAMS PREVIEW

India Preview

Right now, Team India appears to be invincible and is on a roll. It’s not only about the victories; it’s about how they overcame all obstacles and difficulties put at them by their opponents, and how they did it with style. They are the only squad that seems to have everything under control and has made the most of having the home field advantage.

India defeated England at Lucknow with a modest total of 229-9 in their last match. On a surface that was making some progress, their bowlers put on an incredible display to help India win the match by a hundred runs.

This team is loaded with winners of close games. Rohit Sharma, the team’s captain, is leading the charge after being named Player of the Match in the match against England for his outstanding 87 off 101 balls. With 398 runs in 6 games at an average of 66.33 and a strike rate of over 120, he is now the team’s top scorer.

That guy, Virat Kohli, is not too far behind. Kohli still has 354 runs in the championship at an average of 88.50, despite being out of the game against England for a duck. In addition, Kohli enjoys playing Sri Lanka and has averaged 62.65 in 52 One-Day Internationals against them.

Although Shubman Gill’s World Cup campaign wasn’t particularly memorable, we still anticipate a strong performance from him given the flat batting deck.

This World Cup, India’s bowlers have been outstanding. Jasprit Bumrah has led the bowling attack brilliantly in this World Cup, taking 14 wickets at an economy of 3.91. He and Mohammed Shami, who has claimed nine wickets in just two games, have been instrumental in taking early wickets and applying extreme pressure to the opposition. In the middle overs, Kuldeep Yadav (10 wickets at 4.50) and Ravindra Jadeja (8 wickets at 3.75) have continued to apply pressure and claim wickets. They might decide to go for a few runs because this pitch might not help them much. However, they are capable of taking wickets when it matters most.

India Predicted XI:

Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul (wk)

Sri Lanka Preview

The effort launched by Sri Lanka hasn’t gone as expected. They are currently in sixth place as a result of their defeat to Afghanistan in their previous match. Even worse, their current net run rate is a pitiful -0.275.

Undoubtedly, Sri Lanka has suffered from a string of injuries to important players. Other than that game against England, they haven’t played well together.

Their most productive batter in the competition, Sadeera Samarawickrama, has amassed 331 runs at an average of 82.75 in 6 innings. He will take pleasure in this surface and has always had terrific looks.

Kusal Mendis is another batter to keep an eye out for. Despite the fact that he has struggled in the previous three games, this beautiful batting track should allow him to score a lot of runs.

Pathum Nissanka, the opener, has also contributed to the runs and is anticipated to have a strong debut.

The inconsistency of Sri Lanka’s bowlers has cost them. True, injuries have prevented them from having a stable bowling lineup, but players like Maheesh Theekshana (3 wickets at 76 in 5 innings) have disappointed.

Dilshan Madushanka has been the only bowler to make an impression. The youthful fast bowler has taken 13 wickets at an average of 24.46 in 6 innings, ranking among the competition’s highest wicket takers.

Although Kasun Rajitha has been pricey, she has also been successful in taking wickets. The Indian batting lineup may pose a challenge for the Lankan bowlers, but if Madushanka and Rajitha can take early wickets, they can exert pressure on the Indian team.

Sri Lanka’s Predicted XI:

Pathum Nissanka, Dushmantha Chameera, Dilshan Madushanka, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis (c & wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Angelo Mathews, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather Conditions

The Wankhede Stadium’s pitch is a batting gem. After a few balls are played, batters can begin hitting through the line as the ball comes on to bat nicely. While spinners will receive some turn during the middle overs, fast bowlers won’t get much assistance in this situation. But the players who will rule the game will be the batters. A barrage of fours and sixes is to be expected, especially in the opening innings. If dew forms early, the pursuing side will also have a good time.

Mumbai will have extremely warm daytime temperatures and muggy evenings.

Venue Details

At Wankhede Stadium, the first innings score average is 256. The first-batting team in this World Cup has recorded totals of 399-7 and 382-5, respectively. The highest score recorded at the location was 438-4, South Africa vs. India, 2015. At the Wankhede, there are 5.23 runs per over on average. In this match, the team batting first would aim to score between 320 and 340 runs.

Toss: To Bat

The team batting first has won both of the World Cup matches played at the Wankhede Stadium quite easily. The team that wins the toss will therefore almost certainly choose to bat first in this game.

Winning Prediction

India will Win this Match

There have been nine meetings between India and Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup. With four wins apiece, both teams share the same overall record. But as of late, India has overpowered the Lankan Lions, winning their last five One-Day International matches. The Asia Cup 2023 Final was the last time these two teams faced one other; India prevailed by 10 wickets after dismissing Sri Lanka for just 50 runs.

In 2018 World Cup, Team India has appeared to be the most well-rounded team, and they will be the early favorites. Of course, on their day, Sri Lanka may surprise any tam. However, given their current form and demonstrated capacity to overcome any obstacle, India is a very difficult opponent to defeat. In our opinion, India should win this match and complete their World Cup 2023 campaign with seven victories.
