India has announced a formidable squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the team looks to continue their winning momentum after securing back-to-back Test victories against England and Australia. The squad showcases some exciting new talent, with players like Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil, and Renuka Thakur making their way into the team.
India have chosen the same T20I squad that defeated England at home earlier this month for the upcoming games against Australia, but have made changes for the ODIs. Eight players have left the group that toured Bangladesh in July, when India last played ODIs, while six have joined – Richa Ghosh, Saika Ishaque, Shreyanka Patil, Mannat Kashyap, Renuka Thakur, and Titas Sadhu.
India will now shift to the shorter formats after registering back-to-back Test wins over England – their first against them at home – and Australia – their first anywhere – with regulars like captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Sneh Rana, Pooja Vastrakar, and others figuring in both squads.
All games are held at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
All matches on January 9th will take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
They will face Australia in three one-day internationals (ODIs) on December 28, December 30, and January 2 (all at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium), and will field a stronger squad than the one that drew the series 1-1 in Bangladesh. Ghosh and Thakur both played in the Test victory against Australia, with Ghosh leading the way with the bat and in the field, while Patil, Ishaque, Kashyap, and Sadhu are among the newcomers on the scene.
Uma Chhetry, Priya Punia, Devika Vaidya, Anjali Sarvani, B Anusha, Meghna Singh, Rashi Kanojiya, and Monica Patel have all been called in.
The T20I squad is the same as the one that lost 2-1 to England before the two Tests. The three games will take place on January 5, 7, and 9 in Navi Mumbai.
Richa Ghosh, who impressed in her debut at the Wankhede Stadium, has earned a spot in the ODI squad. Her remarkable performance with the bat and in the field has caught the attention of the selectors. Alongside Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil and Renuka Thakur have also made it into the team, showcasing their potential and skill in recent matches.
The Indian team has also retained key players who have consistently performed well. Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, and Pooja Vastrakar are part of the setup, bringing their experience and expertise to the squad. The inclusion of these talented individuals ensures a strong and balanced team for the upcoming series.
India has chosen to include two wicketkeepers in the squad – Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh. This decision provides flexibility and options for the team management, allowing them to choose the best combination based on the match situation. Both Bhatia and Ghosh have shown great potential behind the stumps and can contribute with the bat as well.
The ODI series will kick off with the first match at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on December 28th. All three ODIs will be played at the same venue, providing a familiar setting for the Indian team. The T20I series, on the other hand, will take place from January 5th to January 9th at the DY Patil Stadium, offering a change of scenery for the players and fans.
With a strong and well-rounded squad, India is poised to put up a tough fight against Australia. The team’s recent success in the Test format has boosted their confidence, and they will look to carry that momentum into the limited-overs matches. The combination of experienced players and fresh talent promises an exciting and competitive series.
India’s selection committee has made some bold choices in picking the squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. The inclusion of players like Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil, and Renuka Thakur demonstrates the team’s commitment to nurturing young talent and building a strong foundation for the future. With a blend of experienced players and rising stars, India is ready to take on the challenge and make their mark against Australia. The stage is set for an enthralling series, and cricket fans can look forward to witnessing some thrilling contests between these two formidable teams.
