To compound their woes, Sri Lanka’s must-win match against Nepal on June 15th was washed out due to rain. This further dented their chances of making it to the next round, leaving Theekshana and his teammates in a precarious position.

I think we have done a lot of mistakes as a team, so we couldn’t enter the Super Eight,” Theekshana said.
As Theekshana acknowledged, South Africa had already secured their place in the Super 8 stage from Group C. The battle for the remaining spot was now between Bangladesh and the Netherlands, both of whom had won and lost a game each.
With their backs against the wall, Sri Lanka’s final hope rested on their clash against the Netherlands on June 17th. Theekshana and his teammates knew that they had to deliver a strong performance to keep their tournament dreams alive.
Despite the disappointment, Theekshana remained hopeful that Sri Lanka could learn from their mistakes and put up a better show in their final match. “I think we have done a lot of mistakes as a team, so we couldn’t enter the Super Eight,” he acknowledged, indicating that the team would analyze their shortcomings and strive to rectify them.
