English Cricket Board Announce – Sussex allrounder retires after 20-year playing career that peaked with World T20 title in 2010 and now becomes England’s New Selector.
Luke Wright the right-handed batsman is a former cricketer in the English cricket team. He was also a right arm medium pace bowler with exceptional skills. Joining Sussex in 2004, he reached the top of his fame when he produced an excellent performance in the 2010 world cup. Luke Wright has been brought but he will not be replacing Ed Smith, who already is the national team selector. Both Luke Wright and Ed smith will be sharing the responsibilities in selecting the team players of T20 Cricket, one day international, and the test team along with the team captain of the respective formats along with the Managing director.
Additionally, Luke Wright will also play an important role in selecting players for England’s lions and young lion teams. The responsibility of selecting players for the England lions and young Lions teams was with James Taylor. James was also Ed Smith’s former head scout. Moreover, Luke Wright will also have additional responsibilities of identifying talent amongst the newer players coming towards domestic cricket in the summers. Furthermore, his selection will also affect the England Cricket Team’s central contracts. It means that Luke wright will be included in England cricket board and the medicine planning or player availability.

“It’s a huge honour and privilege to take on this role, one that I am incredibly excited about,” Wright said. “With the Ashes and ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup next year, I can’t wait to get started and try to contribute after what has been a fantastic year for England men’s cricket.” Luke stated.
With the ashes competition between England and Australia just around the corner, it would be beneficial if Ed Smith and Luke Wright together to train the players and select the best ones out of them to outperform the opposing team. Moreover, the much important competition in the one-day international world is also very near. It will be held in 2023 and so it makes this time very critical for Luke Wright to guide the players and select the best ones.
Luke Wright has a successful cricket career of 20 years in both batting and bowling. He was a major contribution to England winning the T20 World cup in 2010 by beating Australia in the final. In addition to the previous, he also has played more than 400 matches for Sussex in all formats. Luke has over 5000 plus run when he played for Sussex alone, and has won the titles of pro40 titles in 2008 and 2009.
This makes it around a total of 19 seasons. In total, Luke has an excellent cricketing record with a total o 101 games for England which includes 50 One day international games and 51 T20 International games. His debut match was against Zimbabwe in 2007. Luke Wright could have made an excellent test career too due to his explosive batting style but he just remained a king of the white ball game. That’s probably one of the reasons why the English Cricket Board gave him the position of a selector before the 50 Overs upcoming world cup.

Wright has spent the past two winters in New Zealand, coaching Auckland and playing a role in the national squad’s limited-overs set-up, and will finish his time there before starting his selector role at the end of March, in time for the start of the English season.
In addition to the above, Luke Write has played in multiple other leagues such as the Bangladesh premier league, Indian premier league, Pakistan Super League, and the Abu Dhabi T10. He is known the be the pioneer of white ball cricket, and that’s why some say he should have been selected as the selector before the T20 Series. Luke Wright was in New Zealand and has been training in Auckland for the past 2 winters. However, he will be over with it and will join the English Cricket team soon. Most experts in the cricket world say that Luke Wright will prove very beneficial for the team due to his experience in county cricket. He is well aware of all the opposing teams and so can be decisive for the English cricket team. It surely will give them an edge over the other teams in the upcoming tournaments.
