JOBURG SUPER KINGS SA20 Team Preview – New T20 League in South Africa:
The new South African T20 League has started, with six teams in the competition. These teams include Joburg Super Kings, Paarl Royals, MI Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Durban Super Giants, and Pretoria Capitals.
As the names suggest, all these franchises are owned by Indian Stakeholders. Thus, IPL franchise owners own the six teams in the South Africa 20.
The T20 competition is named South Africa 20 by Cricket South Africa. With an increased interest from the IPL franchises, the tournament is expected to attract great interest from the Indian market and audiences.

Joburg SK Squad 2023:
Joburg SK have a balanced squad. Obviously, the team is not as star-studded as its sister franchise, Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
However, Joburg SK side has secured some key players who will be crucial for the team’s performance and progress in the 2023 Season. Faf Du Plessis has been a part of Chennai Super Kings for a very long time. The franchise and owners loved him as a batter and a team man.
Even though Faf captains another IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore now, the Super Kings owners and coaching staff have retained their faith in Faf Du Plessis and named him as their icon player and captain for the SA20.
Reeza Hendricks, Janneman Malan, Kyle Verreynne, and Lizaad Williams are the other capped South African players in the squad.
Among overseas players, Harry Brook, Romario Shepherd and Alzaari Jospeph are the big names.

The coaching staff is headed by Stephen Fleming, who has been the coach of Chennai Super Kings for quite a long period of time. Albie Morkel has also been a part of the Super Kings setup. He played for Chennai Super Kings in multiple seasons.

All six teams in the SA 20 are owned by IPL franchises. That’s the reason why these South Africa based franchises have the same parent names as the IPL franchises.
