And now, let’s get to the good stuff, who’s playing and when? Ten teams will be taking part in the tournament, split into two groups. Group A will consist of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, while Group B will feature England, India, Pakistan, West Indies, and Ireland. Each team will play the other four in their group once, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on February 23 and 24. The highly-anticipated final is scheduled for February 26, with a reserve day available on February 27.
As the host country, South Africa directly qualified for the tournament and were joined by the top seven teams in the ICC’s world rankings as of November 30, 2021. The remaining two places were earned through a series of qualifiers, where Bangladesh and Ireland emerged victorious. Unfortunately, Thailand, who featured in 2020, missed out.

So, who are the favorites to win? As much as things may have changed, some things never do, and Australia remains the favorite to defend their crown and become dual holders of the 50-over and T20 world titles. They’ve lost just one of their past 17 completed T20Is and went undefeated during their victorious Commonwealth Games campaign.
They will have to face tough competition from India, England, and other teams. India Women Team, who recently won the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, has a talented squad led by Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh.
England, who was runner-up in last year’s ODI World Cup, has a strong team led by Heather Knight and will be looking to make a comeback.

What is ICC Women T20 WC 2023?
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (known as the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 until 2019) is the biennial international championship for women’s Twenty20 International cricket. The event is organised by the sport’s governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), with the first edition having been held in England in 2009.
For the first three tournaments, there were eight participants, but this number has been raised to ten from the 2014 edition onwards. In July 2022, the ICC announced that the Bangladesh would host the 2024 tournament and that England would host the 2026 tournament. The number of teams in at the 2026 tournament is also set to increase to twelve.
At each tournament, a set number of teams qualify automatically, with the remaining teams determined by the World Twenty20 Qualifier. Australia, having won the tournament five times, are the most successful team.
