Afghanistan announces a strong 15-member playing unit for the One Day International series in Srilanka
A twenty-one-year-old exposed medium fast bowler Abdul Rehman has saved a place in Afghanistan’s fifteen-member squad for the One Day International series in Srilanka. Afghanistan will participate in a three-match One Day International series in Srilanka next month.
Team Afghanistan is a strong Cricket unit with most of the regular players, of which some members are part of the Indian Premier League 2023. Afghanistan players recently participating in the Indian Premier League tournament include Rashid Khan, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Noor Ahmad. Being a part of fifteen members strong Afghan cricket unit, all the Afghanistan players participating in the IPL 2023 will be a part of ODI playing 11.
Afghanistan has already qualified for the One Day International World Cup tournament 2023. However, Srilanka has to participate in the qualifier games as they have yet to confirm their place in the ODI World Cup 2023. Srilanka hopes to end the Global Qualifier matches, saving their seat among the top three squads of the Qualifier. The squad will include experienced players like Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan. Also, Rahmat Shah, skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi, Ibrahim Zadran, Mujeeb your Rahman, and Najibullah Zadran will be part of the experienced squad announced for the ODI World Cup tournament in India. However, Zia ur Rahman Akbar, Gulbaddin Naib, Shahidullah Kamal, and Yamin Ahmadzai will find their names in the reserves.
